Huawei Introduces OceanStor M900 Context Memory Storage to Accelerate AI Inference in Hyperscale Data Centers

The system delivers 64 PB per cluster and doubles token throughput while cutting time to first token in half, Huawei said.

  • On Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at HUAWEI CONNECT, Huawei Deputy Chairman and Rotating Chairman David Wang introduced the OceanStor M900 Context Memory Storage, designed to overcome memory capacity bottlenecks in hyperscale AI inference.
  • Mainstream large models now support context windows exceeding one million tokens, pushing on-chip memory and DRAM beyond their limits and creating industry consensus for multi-tier storage systems.
  • Utilizing the UnifiedBus network, the system expands SuperPoD KV cache capacity to 64 PB with 40 TB/s of aggregate access bandwidth, slashing access latency to 60 microseconds—a 90% reduction.
  • Huawei reports the architecture doubles inference token throughput and enables up to 24 DWPD for SSDs, extending endurance by 16 times and ensuring stability for three years.
  • Growing to 10 trillion-scale parameters, large models are positioning SuperPoDs as the optimal choice for AI infrastructure amid a broader shift toward compute-network-storage collaboration.
