Data shows 34% of respondents started drinking tea in secondary school, while 26% traced their habit to primary school years; notably, 13% of Brits were introduced to tea before the age of five.
Beyond flavor, 53% of Brits feel relaxed and 50% feel comforted when drinking tea; UKTIA Chief Executive Sharon Hall notes these early experiences create lasting associations with routine and reassurance.
Acting as a social bridge, tea is associated with family traditions by 42% of Brits, while 24% use the beverage to connect generations during conversations.
Ahead of International Tea Day on May 21, 2026, experts emphasize that tea remains a constant, adaptable habit continuing to evolve alongside British lifestyles throughout adulthood.
