How My Chemical Romance’s ‘The Black Parade’ hit No. 1 in the US, 20 years later
My Chemical Romance scored its first Billboard 200 No. 1 with the 20th-anniversary reissue of The Black Parade, surging from No. 139 to the chart's top on the Nov. 7, 2026-dated list.
Driven by the 20th-anniversary deluxe reissue, the album earned 78,000 equivalent album units during the tracking week, boosted by availability across more than 20 physical variants including signed editions.
Vinyl purchases accounted for 42,000 of total sales—the group's best week ever on that format—while streaming equivalent album units added 10,000, up 34% from the previous period.
This achievement sets a record for the longest wait for an album to reach No. 1, surpassing Toby Keith's 15-year and nine-month wait for 35 Biggest Hits, and marks the band's first chart-topper in 22 years.
The quartet recently completed a five-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, with their tour featuring "Welcome to the Black Parade" and "Teenagers" slated to wrap Nov. 22 in Indonesia.
