Harry Kane Earns Royal Seal of Approval After Winning the Ballon d'Or
Prince William and Thomas Tuchel hailed Kane’s 91 England goals and Bayern Munich success after he became the first English winner in 25 years.
On Monday, October 26, England captain Harry Kane was crowned the 2026 Men's Ballon d'Or winner at the London Palladium Theatre, becoming the first English player to win the award in 25 years.
Kane secured the honor after moving to Bayern Munich three years ago, beating Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona's Lamine Yamal through superior Bundesliga performance.
Prince William, patron of the Football Association, praised Kane as a "remarkable player," while England manager Thomas Tuchel said the striker "deserved" the recognition after scoring 61 goals in 51 matches last season.
Following the ceremony, the England captain celebrated his triumph at the exclusive Soho nightclub Cirque le Soir, joined by wife Kate and former Tottenham teammates as he hoisted the trophy.
Ahead of his record 126th cap against Croatia at Wembley next month, Kane remains nine goals short of his international century with Team England.
Prince William joined the chorus of congratulations that have reached Harry Kane for the Golden Ball victory, calling Bayern's attacker - and former Tottenham player - an "exceptional captain" and an "extraordinary footballer." (ANSA)
