How gas prices have changed in Missoula in the last week
Regular gas in Missoula held steady for the week while diesel rose 0.3%, and both fuels remain far above year-ago levels, AAA data shows.
As of Monday, October 19, 2026, local gas prices reversed course, dropping by as much as $0.31 a gallon in some regions. This shift marks a notable decline after recent volatility, providing relief to motorists in several surveyed metro areas.
North Carolina markets led the downward trend, with Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton reporting a price of $3.55, a decline of $0.31 from the previous week. Raleigh prices also fell to $3.65, representing a $0.27 decrease for consumers.
According to AAA data, Sioux City and Altoona prices fell. Sioux City residents saw prices drop to $4.16, down $0.08 from last week, while Altoona motorists paid $4.49 per gallon, a decrease of $0.06 over the same period.
Prices remain elevated in several regions. San Luis Obispo-Atascadero-Paso Robles motorists faced $6.37 per gallon, while Santa Rosa drivers paid $6.34 per gallon, illustrating persistent regional disparities in fuel costs despite the broader relief observed elsewhere.
While gasoline costs moderated, Diesel prices remain elevated, reaching $6.56 in Pueblo. Greeley reported Diesel prices of $6.61, reflecting a 109.4% year-over-year increase, showing significant cost differences between fuel types during this period.
