The Cerro de la Virgen site in Calasparra, south-eastern Spain, shows a Christian community continued its liturgy until the 9th century. Archaeologists say this points to a more harmonious coexistence between Christians and Muslims than previously assumed.
Christianity makes little mention of him in North Africa, except for the Pope's visits or, as was the case most recently in Rabat with Archbishop López Romero, when scandals splatter the local clergy. Discreet, however, the Christian religion has been there for centuries, and the faithful have changed.
