Houthis target Aden after 14 killed in strikes in Yemen
The group said the airport was being used by a Saudi military cargo plane and warned people to evacuate after a missile landed inside the perimeter.
- On Saturday, Houthi rebels targeted the perimeter of the Aden airport with a missile, shortly before issuing an evacuation call for the area, a local police source told AFP.
- Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree justified the evacuation call on Telegram, claiming a "military cargo plane belonging to the Saudi enemy" was transporting weapons to target Yemeni civilians.
- Attacks blamed on Saudi Arabia killed 14 people in the northwestern Jawf province, with Houthi broadcaster Almasirah reporting "10 wounded, including women and children in a preliminary toll."
- While a Saudi military aircraft was present at the airport, officials stated the plane "was not hit and took off shortly afterward" despite explosions that shattered windows at the facility.
- Recent weeks have seen the Houthis target Aden multiple times, reflecting escalating violence as a fragile 2022 truce between Yemen's warring factions has effectively collapsed.
