Houston attorney Tony Buzbee to speak Tuesday on case of Texas A&M student who fell to her death from Austin high-rise
- On Tuesday, Stephanie Rodriguez and Manuel Aguilera filed a wrongful-death lawsuit in Travis County seeking at least $1 million, accusing Austin Blacks Rugby Club and UT Latin Economics and Business Association of overserving Brianna Aguilera.
- At around 6 p.m., Aguilera arrived at a tailgate where she was served alcohol despite being underage and left around 10 p.m., then went to a 17th-floor unit at 21 Rio Apartments just after 11 p.m.
- Most of the group left the unit around 12:30 a.m., leaving Aguilera with three other girls; about 13 minutes later, she used a friend's phone to argue with an out-of-town boyfriend, and a neighbor heard a 'thud' before she was pronounced dead at 12:56 a.m.
- Aguilera's parents have rejected APD's conclusions and called for the Texas Rangers and a new investigation, while Austin police say the case remains active and the Travis County Medical Examiner will decide cause and manner of death.
- Buzbee said the suit will let the family subpoena witnesses and phone/text records, request a jury trial, and hold a press conference at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
