- The bill requires weekly data sharing between FLHSMV and the Department of State and replaces manual audits with an automated validation that must be made public before certification.
- The League of Women Voters of Florida warned the rules could burden more than 1 million Florida voters, the Brennan Center for Justice found 9% of Americans lack required documents, and State Rep. Ashley Gantt recounted an aunt without a birth certificate who could be ensnared.
- If the Legislature approves the bill and the Governor signs it, most provisions would take effect on July 1; the House and Senate bills must be synched before the March 13 adjournment and SB 1334 cleared a committee on Feb. 18.
