House panel opposes adding U.S. Supreme Court justices
The U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary passed a resolution to keep the Supreme Court at nine justices permanently.
H.J. Res. 1 aims to amend the Constitution to fix the Supreme Court's size at nine justices and forbid any increase.
Representative Andy Biggs stated the Founders created checks and balances including the Supreme Court to protect citizens and prevent political influence.
Gabe Roth of Fix the Courts expressed doubt that the resolution would gain enough support to become a constitutional amendment.
