- Authorities claim the arrests involve spreading disinformation to attack the government, specifically regarding the "Aug. 31 incident," which police described as baseless.
- Police also arrested activist Lee Ying-chi, detaining the pair for alleged seditious acts. Tang, known as "Boomhead" or Bobby, operates the outlet with over 66,000 Instagram followers.
- The Hong Kong Journalists Association expressed deep concern, noting this is the first publicly known arrest of a journalist for alleged sedition under the 2024 national security law.
- Independent media in Hong Kong face a narrowing space following the 2020 Beijing-imposed national security law, which previously forced the closure of outlets Apple Daily and Stand News.
