One of the poster boys of the Calendario Romano is not a priest at all, and never has been. This is revealed in an interview in La Repubblica. Although Giovanni Galizia has been part of the publication known worldwide as the 'hot priest calendar' for more than 20 years, he is a flight attendant for an airline. Other so-called priests on the calendar also turn out to be ordinary laypeople in reality.
A calendar featuring close-ups of handsome young men dressed as priests has been a typical souvenir from Rome for the past two decades, but apparently few of them are actually clergymen.
