Until the end of the school holidays in Poland, the government intervenes massively in the pricing at the pump. For the next two weeks, there is practically a tank cap. In addition, a reduced VAT rate is added.
Starting Monday, Poland will once again apply a reduced VAT rate of 8% on fuel. This measure will be in effect until August 31.
The return of the "Fuel Prices Lower" program on Monday's TVN24 program "One on One" was met with criticism from Ryszard Petru. The MP, vice-chair of the Center party, said that wealthier drivers benefit most from the VAT reduction on fuel, and that given current oil prices, government support is unnecessary.
In Germany, the fuel discount has expired, and Poland is now introducing new aid: a fixed maximum price and reduced VAT are intended to make it easier for motorists to return from their holidays.
The Polish government cuts taxes on fuel. Drivers are relieved at high prices. As of today, VAT on petrol and diesel in the neighbouring country is falling from currently 23 percent to 8 percent.
