Attorneys Move to Block Release of Josh Jacobs Records
The department said it completed a review and found some records could be released with redactions, but attorneys plan to seek court orders blocking disclosure.
On Tuesday, the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department announced it is temporarily withholding investigation records concerning Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs as attorneys for involved parties seek court orders to block their release.
Jacobs pleaded no contest on September 10 to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property charges stemming from a May 23 altercation at his home involving his former girlfriend.
Although the department completed its review and determined some records could be released with "appropriate redactions," attorneys for those involved filed "written notifications" of their intent to seek judicial orders "restraining disclosure."
The NFL placed Jacobs on the commissioner's exempt list pending its own investigation, preventing the running back from practicing or playing while he continues receiving his salary.
No court hearings have been scheduled as of Tuesday regarding the records dispute, and the department continues to process requests in accordance with Wisconsin public records law.
