Himalayas face severe glacial flood risks in years ahead, UN official warns
UN officials say climate change is accelerating glacier melt and putting millions of people and hydroelectric projects at greater risk.

While engineering interventions can sometimes control drainage, "there's no construction that could have stopped this," Wignaraja said. Global data reveals a 53% increase in glacial lake volume since 1990, signaling rising risks.
