One Fatality in Vehicle Crash on Highway 5 Near McLure: RCMP
Drive B.C. said crews were en route and assessment was ongoing after a 1.3 km closure disrupted Highway 5 and the McLure Ferry.
- On Sunday, June 7, 2026, a semi-truck collided with an SUV on Highway 5 near McLure at approximately 6:30 a.m., resulting in one fatality. RCMP confirmed the incident and closed the highway for investigation.
- The closure extends for about 1.3 km between Dianna Road and Pinegrove Road, located approximately 11 to 13 km south of Barriere. Crews remain on-site assisting with the incident response.
- Drive noted the closure of the McLure Ferry due to crewing issues caused by the road incident. Argo Road Maintenance confirmed at 10:34 a.m. that the ferry was open again.
- Emergency Health Services and RCMP notified a reconstructionist and the coroner to assist with the investigation. The Clearwater Times contacted authorities for additional information about the fatal collision.
- Updates from Drive continued throughout the morning as the investigation progressed. Assessment remains in progress for the highway stretch, with regular status notifications provided to the public.
