- On the par-4 18th, Herrington hit a perfect approach shot and sank his 5-foot par putt after Donegan narrowly missed, saying, `I played this hole pretty well this week`.
- In the other semifinal, Howell closed out Eric Lee, seeking to be the youngest champion in the 125th U.S. Amateur, after a strong performance earlier this year.
- This is the fourth U.S. Amateur at The Olympic Club, with past winners Charles Coe and Nathaniel Crosby, as Howell seeks to become the youngest champion since Danny Lee in 2008.
