The newly merged insurer Helvetia Baloise intends to abolish 2000 to 2600 posts, including 1400 to 1800 in Switzerland, over the next three years, a spokesperson told the agency AWP.
The merged insurance group is decommissioning 2000–2600 jobs across the Group.
The two Swiss insurance companies Helvetia and Baloise are merging. Alexander Bockelmann, previously CTO of Baloise, acts as Group-wide CTO. Helvetia's former tech head is leaving the Executive Board and is now acting as CTO Switzerland in the merged company.
The legal completion of the merger of Helvetia Holding AG and Baloise Holding AG on 5 December 2025 marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of two traditional Swiss insurance companies.
The merger of Helvetia and Baloise is now also legally completed. A new giant is being created in the Swiss insurance market. The merged Helvetia Baloise becomes the largest all-sector insurer in the country. read more
