- Tierney explained that Season 2 will adapt The Long Game, the sequel to Heated Rivalry, which he called "an emotionally sophisticated book" that takes the couple into more serious emotional territory.
- The second season will also incorporate Role Model, a grumpy-sunshine romance between hockey player Troy Barrett and social media manager Harris Drover, expanding the show's narrative scope.
