Heat wave persists, air quality alert issued for Friday

High pressure remains in control of the weather, keeping the sky clear and humidity low, but a Code Orange alert has been issued for Mecklenburg, Cabarrus & Rowan counties due to hot, stagnant air leading to a buildup of ground-level ozone, and rain is still needed to alleviate the Severe and Extreme drought in other parts of the area.
