Previously, the media reported that during the border incident at the end of July, irregular migrants had attempted to drag a border guard into Belarus.
The resignation of Rustams Liubajevs, the commander of the State Border Guard Service (VSAT), is an honorable act, claims Rimantas Liepa, chairman of the National Border Guard Trade Union. The head of the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service, Rustamas Lyubaevas, has announced his resignation, which was preceded by a scandal involving an alleged attack on border guards by migrants who entered Lithuanian territory through a tunnel.
Rustamas Lubaevas analysed the circumstances of the incident and decided to resign in order not to harm the reputation of the agency.
