HDA announced the completion of the comprehensive renovation of the St. Louis Jewish Community Center’s Marilyn Fox Building in Chesterfield, Missouri. The 87,930-square-foot renovation reimagines the long-standing community hub with expanded amenities, modernized spaces, and enhanced accessibility designed to better serve members of all ages for years to come. Originally constructed in 1996 with a minor renovation completed in 2008, the Marilyn Fox Building has long served as a cornerstone for community connection, wellness, and recreation in West St. Louis County. Through this transformative renovation, HDA partnered with the St. Louis Jewish Community Center to breathe new life into the facility while preserving the spirit and familiarity members have known for decades. The renovation includes the addition of a new Adult Day Center with capacity for 36 participants, creating an important new resource designed to support older adults and their families. New locker rooms, a redesigned lobby and gathering space, and upgraded infrastructure systems further enhance the overall member experience throughout the facility. Additional improvements include renovations to the gymnasium, fitness center, and Early Childhood Center, along with expanded kitchen facilities, dedicated pickleball courts, upgraded security and communications systems, and exterior enhancements that modernize the building’s presence while complementing the original architecture. A new metal wall panel system was incorporated into the main entryway to create a refreshed and welcoming arrival experience for members and guests alike. Constructed with masonry load-bearing exterior walls and brick veneer, the existing structure provided a strong foundation for the extensive renovation effort. HDA carefully balanced modernization with preservation, ensuring the facility feels both refreshed and deeply rooted in its history and community impact. “This renovation is about more than updating a building — it’s about investing in people and creating spaces that strengthen community for generations to come,” said Jack Holleran, President of HDA. “The Marilyn Fox Building has long served as an important gathering place in Chesterfield, and we’re proud to help reimagine it in a way that honors its history while supporting the evolving needs of the St. Louis Jewish Community Center.” Construction began in April 2024 and was thoughtfully phased to allow continuous member access throughout the renovation process while minimizing disruption to daily operations. ODA Studio served as the interior designer for the project, with ISC Contracting leading construction.
