Hawks' Flemings Suspended for a Game for Elbowing the Pelicans' McGowens in the Head
The NBA disciplined the rookie after a review of the incident, leaving Atlanta short at point guard for Monday night’s game.
The NBA suspended Atlanta Hawks rookie Kingston Flemings one game without pay on Sunday for intentionally elbowing New Orleans Pelicans guard Bryce McGowens in the head during Saturday's game.
During Saturday's 121-99 loss to the Pelicans, Flemings was ejected after a brief skirmish with New Orleans player Julian Reese escalated the tension on court.
Before his ejection, Flemings played 25 minutes off the bench; as the Hawks' only true point guard, his absence creates significant roster challenges heading into Monday's matchup.
Flemings will sit out Monday's game against the Indiana Pacers, compounding Atlanta's depth crisis as Jock Landale, Mouhamed Gueye, Henri Veesaar, and Jalen Johnson are also unavailable.
Selected in the NBA Draft out of Houston, the 19-year-old had his best career performance last Wednesday against Miami, scoring 23 points with five assists and five rebounds.
