Ford said he found a community in drama class after severe college depression and social isolation, and he was expelled four days before graduation.
- On Thursday's episode of the Hollywood Reporter's "Awards Chatter" podcast, Harrison Ford revealed he battled severe depression while attending Ripon College in Wisconsin, describing himself as "socially ill" and "psychologically not well."
- Describing his isolation, Ford recalled he would "rarely venture out" of his single room, leaving only to order pizza; in "rare" instances he attempted to attend class, he would "touch the door on the outside of the building" and turn around.
- Joining a drama class to boost his low GPA, Ford discovered an unexpected community among his fellow students, calling them "some of the most interesting people I knew."
- Despite finding community, his academic career ended abruptly when he was expelled four days before graduation for plagiarism; Ford admitted, "And I was accused of and admitted that there was plagiarism."
