Leak website releases data on tens of thousands of DHS employees

The leak exposes employee contact details and access rights for CBP, ICE and other DHS units, while Okta says it found no evidence of compromise.

  • A hacker published personally identifiable information of more than 40,000 Homeland Security employees online earlier this year, including names, job titles, email addresses, and phone numbers.
  • The hacker claims data originated from an Okta single sign-on system used by DHS, with exfiltrated records representing roughly one-fifth of the department's 220,000-person workforce.
  • Records include 21,000 employees from Customs and Border Protection , 10,000 from Immigration and Customs Enforcement , and 6,200 from Citizenship and Immigration Services.
  • Okta stated, "Okta is secure, and we have no evidence our data or systems were compromised," while DHS and DOJ did not respond to inquiries.
  • The files expose internal surveillance tools including Penlink and Palantir's Falcon platform, alongside undercover operations like "Keyhole" used for monitoring Minneapolis protest groups.
