Gwendolyn Rutten, a figure of Open Vld, announced on Friday her departure from her post as Flemish Minister and Vice-President, to take up the mayoral chain in Aarschot (Flemish Brabant).
Gwendolyn Rutten (Open VLD) sees no reason to be Deputy Prime Minister in current affairs any longer. She sets her sights on the mayor's sash. Her spokesperson Vincent Verbeeck, now candidate for chairman, is outraged.

Like her predecessor Bart Somers, Flemish minister and Deputy Prime Minister Gwendolyn Rutten (Open VLD) quit early. She returns as mayor of Aarschot to fully focus on the election campaign for the municipal elections in October. “With 2.5 months to go (until the local elections on 13 October), there is still a lot of work to be done in Aarschot and I want to fully commit to our city,” says Rutten.
