The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, today warned of the "inegible" link between armed conflict, violence and hunger and asked the Security Council to use all available tools to stop this "bad cycle".
A family with four children left its farm in Somalia after the arrival of armed groups demanding payment in exchange for allowing them to continue planting the land. The family travelled approximately 100 kilometres on foot to reach a camp for displaced persons, and they were saddened by the death of a child during the journey.
