Since General Doumbouya came to power, the main political parties have been dissolved, demonstrations banned, repressed, and many dissidents have been arrested, sentenced, pushed into exile or reported missing.
France 24 has already been banned in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, three Sahelian countries ruled by sovereignist military regimes.

France 24 had not immediately responded to a request for comment. The regulator also withdrew the press accreditation of a Jeune Afrique correspondent, accusing him of professional misconduct.
