In Guinea-Bissau, a country led by a military junta since a coup d'état on 26 November 2025, the leader of the opposition, Domingos Simões Pereira, was detained on Friday, 10 July. In a period of political transition in the country, some observers fear that this arrest will be a warning sign of the establishment of an authoritarian regime.
