After the fall of 26 November, the military team in power announced that "they are categorically prohibited" actions "incentives disorder and vandalism" in the country.
The military who took power in Guinea-Bissau at the end of November issued a "Transition Charter" on Monday, 8 December, as a legal framework for this period, which is supposed to last a year and forbids the head of the junta from running for a forthcoming presidential office.
The text, which is intended to serve as a legal framework for the country throughout the transition period, states that four bodies will lead this period of exception until a new president is appointed within 12 months. If it also prohibits the President and the Transitional Prime Minister from running for elections to be held at the end, it provides for the adoption of an amnesty law for acts committed during the coup d'état on 26 November.
