The presence in Tierra del Fuego of the VS Promise, a tanker with a British flag of 228.6 meters in length and with the capacity to transport more than 500,000 barrels of oil, generated new political and diplomatic questions. The boat had previously operated in the terminal of Río Cullen, used to load crude from the Southern Marine Basin, and on 24 August remained about 14 hours in the port of Ushuaia before resuming its navigation.
