GTA 6 Release Date About 18 Months Behind Original Target, Take-Two Boss Reveals, Suggesting Spring 2025 Was Once the Goal Internally
Strauss Zelnick said the game had fallen about 18 months behind schedule before Take-Two reaffirmed its 19 November launch window.
During an interview with podcast host David Senra published over the weekend, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI is currently 18 months behind its original internal schedule.
Originally targeting a spring 2025 launch, the project shifted to a fall 2025 window, then May 2026, before finally settling on a November 19, 2026, release date.
Business Insider estimates Take-Two has spent between $1 billion and $1.5 billion on the game, reflecting intense pressure to deliver what Zelnick describes as the most valuable entertainment property in the world.
Responding to concerns about potential delays, Zelnick maintained firm confidence in the schedule, stating, "November 19th, I do know," regarding the game's release.
While Rockstar expects marketing to ramp up this summer, fans continue to question when a third official trailer might be revealed.
