Grizzlies C Isaiah Stewart Out 2 Weeks with Ankle Sprain
The center will be re-evaluated in two weeks and is expected to miss the preseason finale and opening night, the team said.
The Memphis Grizzlies announced Friday that center Isaiah Stewart will be re-evaluated in two weeks after suffering a moderate left ankle sprain during Monday's preseason opener against the Atlanta Hawks.
Memphis acquired the 6-foot-8 Stewart this summer from the Detroit Pistons, absorbing his four-year, $60 million contract to help restore the team's identity and culture.
Last season with Detroit, Stewart averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and a career-high 1.6 blocks over 22.7 minutes per game while earning a base salary of $15 million.
Stewart will miss the remainder of the preseason and the regular-season opener against the Utah Jazz on October 21, forcing teammates Zach Edey and Quinten Post to handle center minutes.
Despite the injury, Stewart remains expected to mentor rookie Cam Boozer, the third overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, as the Grizzlies focus on building culture day by day.
