Greggs introducing new policy on popular pastry product returning after 7 years
Greggs says 57% of Britons would try more new foods with free insurance as it relaunches the bake nationwide.
On Thursday, Greggs relaunched the Steak and Stilton Bake after a seven-year absence, introducing a nationwide 'Stilton Insurance' offer allowing customers to swap it for a classic Steak Bake if unsatisfied.
A survey of 2,000 people commissioned by Greggs found that 28% of Brits shy away from Stilton and 11% have never tried it, though 55% believe people write the cheese off too quickly.
Research commissioned by Greggs found 54% of consumers are deterred from trying new foods by cost, while 57% said free 'insurance' on food would boost their confidence to experiment with new flavors.
If customers do not enjoy the Stilton Bake, they can return it to the counter—even if half-eaten—to exchange it for a classic Steak Bake at no extra cost.
Zoe Harris, Greggs customer director, encouraged skeptics: "Consider this the ultimate taste test with zero risk," she said, noting the bake combines diced beef, grilled onions, and Stilton cheese in gravy.
