In rural Austria, a relaxed "hello" is often greeted, but a traditional "greet god" or a familiar "greet di" remain widespread. Greeting formulas in the original dialect do not disappear - not even among younger people, shows a study by researchers around ÖAW-Linguist Katharina Korecky-Kröll. Consequently, the widespread assumption that younger people greet less than older people is also not true.
