Greenpeace has received evidence of asbestos in the environment of a total of 22 educational institutions in Eastern Austria and has informed the relevant education authorities.
In the vicinity of 19 Burgenland educational institutions there may be contaminated material. In two cases there is confirmation by laboratory results.
On Wednesday, the environmental protection organization Greenpeace demanded a review of possible asbestos findings in front of schools and kindergartens in Burgenland. According to Greenpeace spokesman Stefan Stadler, reporting on 22 school locations had been received from the population. In two cases, Styria and in one case Lower Austria were also affected. The relevant education authorities were informed.
