The plans for a deportation centre in Africa for migrants rejected in the EU appear to be more concrete.
Together with Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and Austria, Greece is pushing forward plans for an EU deportation centre in Africa. Athens wants to face a mass threat, as in Ceuta, with a marked increase in its resistance.
In the summer of 2027, Greece took over the presidency of the EU Council. For this time, the government announced that it would set up a European deportation centre in Africa. Supposedly, a country has already been agreed upon. By J. Riemann.
The Greek government plans next year to set up a deportation centre for rejected asylum seekers in Africa. Rwanda and Uganda were identified as possible locations. "We believe that the framework will open up under the Greek Presidency," said Mr. Thanos Plevris, Minister of Migration, on Monday.
A country has already been agreed, according to Minister for Migration Plevris.
Athens announces the participation in the project already started by Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Denmark. The country intended to host the structure for returns outside the EU borders would already have been chosen.
