Spanish paleontologists have found the first evidence that long-necked herbivorous dinosaurs called diplodocus roamed Europe in addition to what is now North America tens of millions of years ago. The bones of these Jurassic giants were found near the eastern Spanish city of Teruel.
Diplodocus Dinosaurs Roamed Europe: A Historic Discovery in Spain
Spanish paleontologists have discovered evidence that Diplodocus, a long-necked dinosaur, once roamed Europe. Fossils, including 14 caudal vertebrae, were found in Teruel, Spain, marking the first discovery of this genus outside North America. This finding expands our understanding of Jurassic sauropod distribution.
“It is one of the most complete double-girders discovered to date in Europe and the first evidence of this genus outside North America,” said Sergio Sanchez Fenoosa
