On Saturday, the Bundeswehr started a military exercise on the Rhine with a large contingent. Support was also provided from abroad.
1200 soldiers and more than 500 military vehicles cross the Rhine with swimming bridges between Kalkar and Rees. Hundreds of refugees watch the Bundeswehr train a rare skill with the British, Italian and Dutch armies, which is becoming more and more important in the NATO alliance.
On the Lower Rhine there is a large-scale military exercise: about 1,200 soldiers from four nations train the rapid crossing of the Rhine. The aim of the exercise is to improve military cooperation.
In the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Kalkar a large-scale military exercise begins. 1200 soldiers from four countries build bridges to bring heavy equipment over the Rhine. The maneuver lasts 14 days.
A two-week maneuver by the Bundeswehr began in Kalkar, North Rhine-Westphalia.
Motorists must adjust to road traffic restrictions in the Lower Saxony district of Hameln-Pyrmont on 1 July. The Bundeswehr will be on the road with several columns.
