Mass. School Bus Driver Arrested on Kidnapping Charges, Police Say
Redi Gace faces multiple child-related charges including two counts of kidnapping and reckless endangerment after unauthorized stops on his school bus route, police said.
Authorities in Grafton, Massachusetts, announced Wednesday that Redi Gace, 54-year-old school bus driver from Worcester, faces two counts of kidnapping and other child-related charges and was arraigned in Westborough District Court, held on $50,000 bail.
Grafton Superintendent Jay Cummings said the driver deviated from his route with students aboard and made unauthorized stops, while Grafton Public Schools contacted affected families and offered support.
AA Transportation confirmed the bus driver is no longer employed, Worcester police assisted in the arrest, and court records require he surrender his passport.
A not guilty plea was entered in Westborough District Court, prosecutors said, and authorities urged anyone with information to contact the Grafton Police Department.
Community leaders and media attention underscored local concern as Grafton Superintendent Jay Cummings said, 'We take this matter extremely seriously and remain committed to student safety.
