When Erik Asp learned that his son's motocross bike, a quad bike and his ex-wife's new partner's motorcycle had been stolen, he reacted immediately. Thanks to a GPS transmitter on the quad bike, he was able to follow the thieves' journey in real time. Ten people have now been sentenced for, among other things, aggravated theft and aggravated receiving.
A GPS-equipped quad bike that was stolen in Leksand was crucial when the police unraveled a large organized theft ring. Now ten people are being sentenced in Falu District Court for involvement. The harshest sentence is given to a 36-year-old man who is sentenced to two years and six months in prison for 30 aggravated thefts.
What started with a theft of a quad bike in Leksand last August turned out to be the tip of an iceberg. Thanks to a hidden GPS transmitter and quick action from the owner, Erik Asp, an international theft ring was busted. Now, the verdict has been handed down against the men who were charged with an extensive theft tour across large parts of central Sweden.
