Government not sitting on space alien evidence, Obama reiterates
Obama said statistical odds suggest life may exist elsewhere, but he has seen no proof and says any government secret would have leaked.
During an interview Tuesday on The Late Show, former President Barack Obama pushed back on alien conspiracy theories, arguing the government cannot keep secrets and jokingly offering himself as a planetary emissary.
Obama sought to clarify viral comments from earlier this year calling aliens 'real,' telling Colbert he meant statistically the universe likely contains life elsewhere, though he saw no proof during his White House tenure.
Dismissing hidden spacecraft theories, Obama argued government employees cannot maintain such secrets: 'I promise you some guy guarding the installation would have taken a selfie with one of the aliens and sent it to his girlfriend.'
Contrasting Obama's skepticism, President Trump recently teased that the Pentagon is preparing to release 'very interesting' UFO records, positioning himself as a disclosure president. Trump said, 'I think some of it's going to be very interesting to people.'
Public interest in Unidentified Aerial Phenomena has reached new heights, fueled by the upcoming release of Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day, which explores what might happen if humanity discovered it is not alone in the universe.
