According to a statement from Rosatom, the Russian company will continue the expansion of the Paks nuclear power plant despite the European Court of Justice annulling the European Commission's approval of the investment, under pressure from the Austrians.

The European Court of Justice has annulled the 2017 Commission decision authorising state aid for Paks II, forcing Brussels to re-examine the project's legality. Rosatom has responded by stressing that it continues to see the implementation of the investment in accordance with the highest safety standards as its primary task.
