Government approves new rules on education and fire prevention

High school students are now required to take the Portuguese exam.

The Council of Ministers approved the amendment of the principles guiding the assessment of learning, extended the special classification conditions for exams and the average weight of final exams.

An amendment to the legal regime for inclusive education was also approved, which extends the special conditions for grading tests to all students with any specific language disorder.

These changes, which make the Portuguese exam mandatory for all students, only take effect for students who reach the 12th year in the academic year 2024/2025.

This Thursday, the Council of Ministers approved the changes to the conditions for completing secondary education, which had already been announced and which will come into force progressively starting next school year.
