The Minister of Finance said today in Brussels that Portugal will move forward with rates on the extraordinary profits of energy companies, similar to what happened in 2022 in the previous fuel price crisis. "We will take the measures taken in 2022, caliber them, improve them and - shortly - present to Parliament a proposal", said Joaquim Mirada Sarmento, in statements to journalists, in Brussels.
Minister for Finance confirms that the government will study the 2022 measures and present a better and more calibrated proposal to Parliament. Brussels has only given the green light to national measures.

Miranda Sarmento goes on to look at the (similar) rate created in 2022 by the government of António Costa, improve it, and does not exclude that it will be applied to large areas, as happened in 2022 and 2023.
