Gov Adeleke orders arrests after reported killing of associate, Ajagungbade

Adeleke ordered police to arrest suspects and restore order after the reported killing, as the state plans to reintroduce a park management system.

  • On Sunday, Olamilekan Ajagungbade, a political ally of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and member of the Accord, was shot dead in Ile-Ife. The killing occurred during a motor park leadership dispute.
  • The incident allegedly involved the chairman of the Ife Mini-Bus, popularly known as Sb, amid Ajagungbade's struggle to control motor parks against current leader Nurudeen Alowonle. He was reportedly lured to a meeting before the shooting.
  • To restore peace, Governor Adeleke ordered warring groups to vacate motor parks immediately and announced reintroduction of the Park Management System. He will soon issue an Executive Order to regulate park operations across the state.
  • Governor Adeleke directed Osun State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura to immediately arrest all suspects involved, stating "there will be no sacred cows as all culprits will be brought to book."
  • Security agencies are under instruction to restore normalcy and ensure peace is sustained in affected areas. Residents have been called to remain calm as authorities maintain law and order following the incident.
