Barca Equal to PSG, Real Madrid, Insists Gordon

The Barcelona winger said recent defeats do not make PSG or Real Madrid better, and he backed his side to beat anyone.

  • On Monday, Barcelona winger Anthony Gordon insisted his team is not inferior to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, stating Barcelona is a "fantastic team" capable of beating any opponent despite recent defeats.
  • Gordon cited fatigue during the 4-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, noting the French side rested their entire squad; he argued Barcelona dominated possession in the 2-1 Clasico defeat but conceded two poor goals.
  • Barcelona signed Gordon from Newcastle in the summer for a fee rising to €80 million ; the 25-year-old has recorded three goals and five assists in 13 appearances across all competitions.
  • Barca hosts Premier League side Aston Villa on Tuesday in the Champions League, with Gordon praising manager Unai Emery as "one of the best in the world" ahead of the fixture.
  • Aston Villa enters the match with a 100 percent record in the Champions League, having defeated Viking, Fenerbahce, and Club Brugge; Gordon noted facing English opposition provides no extra motivation.
