Google Play Games for PC is getting more premium titles and cross-buy with Android

Google introduces cross-buy for Android and PC games, new PC store section, game trials with progress carryover, and AI-powered Play Games Sidekick to enhance user experience.

  • On Wednesday at GDC 2026, Google announced Google Play updates including a cross-buy option that lets users buy once for mobile and PC access.
  • Responding to prior platform limits, Google expands Play Games for Windows beyond Play Pass as earlier paid game exclusions pressured a platform shift.
  • Launching Game Trials, Google will let players sample paid games like Dredge for 60 minutes, then buy for $24.99 or delete with progress saved if purchased.
  • Players will see their Gamer Profile, which will sync progress across mobile and PC, and Play Games Sidekick will provide real-time assistance with Gemini Live, as Google adds a dedicated PC section in the Play Store's Games tab.
  • Over the coming months, Google plans to add paid indie games like Moonlight Peaks, Sledding Game, and Low-Budget Repairs, with PC titles running in a virtualized lightweight Android OS and requiring developer opt-in for cross-buy; Google says features will arrive throughout the year.
