Google discontinues Nest Protect smoke alarm and Nest x Yale lock
Google has announced it will discontinue the Nest Protect smoke alarm and the Nest x Yale lock, ceasing manufacturing but allowing existing stock to sell until supplies last.
Google is now partnering with First Alert for new smoke detectors, which will be compatible with existing Nest systems.
Google has not released new smart home devices recently and is focusing on third-party products, such as the Yale Smart Lock with Matter.
Support for Nest Secure will end on April 8, rendering it obsolete, but existing users have been informed about this shutdown.
