Now that the Hockey World Cup is starting, the discussion about the financial side of the sport is resurfacing: the women may be winning gold on the field, but that does not translate into money in their wallets. While Dutch female hockey players have been at the absolute world top for years and two-thirds of all hockey players in the Netherlands are women, top male hockey players earn three to five times as much at their clubs.
